I create “stuff”. All kinds of stuff. Some useless and impractical, and many very functional and useful. Some of my creations are just an improvement on existing ideas and many original. In the past 10 years, I have been creating and inventing things related to my passion, backpacking and ultralite backpacking. I am proud to say that I have successfully patented a few of my ideas. I should also mention that none of my inventions are currently for sale.
Now, take for example what I call the SierraShade. It’s a simple contraption I invented when I backpack. It’s a retractable lightweight sun shade made from ripstop nylon and fiberglass rods and simply attaches to my backpack. I use it in the rain, snow and is great when hiking above tree line and in the desert. I know it’s better than wearing a hat and no matter where you stand, you are in the shade. I also added removable mosquito netting and sun visor. Very trick if I say so myself! |
