Day 3 August 31st

Start - Along the stream ¼ mile from Shadow Lake
End – Deer Creek
Mile – 15.5

I leave camp at 6:45 AM and after a good night sleep I feel charged up and ready to go.

Stopping at Red’s Meadows was not part of my plan.  I didn’t need to re-supply yet and it’s only day 3.  I can hardly smell myself and my white Railriders Adventure shirt is still looking white.  No urge for burger and fries yet.

The trail was very dry hiking through Devils Postpile.   I’ve been to Devils Postpile before so I didn’t see any reason to detour just to take the same pictures I’ve taken before.

I remember no water until you get to the bridge crossing near Red’s Resort.  I had a great lunch here, soaking my feet in the river and eating smoked oysters and crackers for lunch.  Yum Yum.

I end today’s hike at 5:30 PM after finding a nice campsite around Deer Creek.

That’s 15.5 mile day!  I’m hiking effortless and feel good.  I tell myself I had a great day.

Hey wait a minute.  Why am I still short 5.5 miles from my original plan?

I keep reminding myself I left 1 day early and can make up the miles.

I make 9 time entries is my log today.
